The Panhandle Research & Extension Center's dry bean research programNebraska dry edible bean producers plan anywhere from 140,000 to 200,000 acres of beans in a typical year. This production is concentrated in western Nebraska, the same area served by the Panhandle Research and Extension Center. One of the Center's missions is conducting research to improve dry edible bean production. The Panhandle Center is unique in its approach to dry bean research, using a team of scientists from multiple disciplines collaborate to carry out projects. These disciplines include:
