DEGREES:

B.S., Agronomy, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1980
M.S., Agronomy (Weed Science), University of Nebraska, 1985
PhD., Agronomy (Weed Science), University of Nebraska, 1988

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Investigate and develop resource efficient cropping systems for dryland crops that emphasize water management, weed control, and soil conservation.

EXTENSION INTERESTS:

Coordinate multi-disciplinary education programs designed to promote efficient dryland crop production systems.

MAJOR PROJECT ACTIVITIES:

Current research activities focus on the development of dryland cropping systems with less reliance on summer fallow. Particular attention is being spent on developing flexible or opportunity cropping systems that can take advantage of wetter periods while retaining low risk strategies for dry periods. In extension, the current program emphasis is in development and delivery of dryland crops information via the Internet.
