Camelot

Camelot is a semi-dwarf wheat cultivar with a mature plant height of about 34 inches, which is similar to Millennium and about 4 inches taller than Wesley. It is moderately late in maturity. Camelot has moderate straw strength, similar to Agripro Jagalene. It has good to very good winter hardiness. Camelot is moderately resistant to stem, leaf, and stripe rust. It also is slightly more tolerant to Fusarium head blight (scab) than many widely grown varieties. Camelot is moderately resistant to Hessian fly. It is moderately susceptible to wheat soilborne mosaic virus, and susceptible to barley yellow dwarf virus, and wheat streak mosaic virus. Camelot should be well adapted to most rainfed wheat production systems in Nebraska. Where it is adapted, Camelot should be a replacement for 2137, Wahoo, and Wesley (for rainfed production), though Wesley has better straw strength. Camelot was developed cooperatively by the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station and the USDA-ARS and released in 2008 by the developing institutions.
