Infinity CL
Infinity
CL is a hard red winter wheat cultivar developed cooperatively by
the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station and the USDA-ARS. Infinity
CL is a wheat that may be used as a component of the BASF
CLEARFIELD Production System with Beyond® herbicide for
the selective control of jointed goatgrass, downy brome, and feral
rye. Infinity CL was released primarily for its superior adaptation
to rainfed wheat production systems in Nebraska and counties in
adjacent states. Infinity CL was selected from the cross Windstar//Millennium
sib/Above’ sib. Infinity CL is a semi-dwarf with a medium
short coleoptile. Infinity CL is medium in maturity and has good
to very good winter hardiness. It is moderately resistant stem,
leaf, and stripe rust, but susceptible to Hessian fly and wheat
soilborne mosaic virus. The overall end-use quality characteristics
for Infinity CL should be acceptable to the milling and baking industries.
In positioning Infinity CL, it has performed extremely well throughout
most of Nebraska and Wyoming in rainfed production systems. Infinity
CL is genetically complementary to 2137, Alliance, Goodstreak, Jagger,
and Pronghorn.
