Overley
Overley is a hard red winter wheat released by Kansas State University. Its primary adaptation is the eastern two-thirds of Kansas and Oklahoma, although it has performed well in much of southern Nebraska as well. Overley has a medium long coleoptile and a medium tall plant height. It is resistant to soil borne mosaic virus and moderately resistant to stripe rust and tan spot. It is moderately susceptible to leaf rust and the Hessian fly. It is highly susceptible to head scab and caution should be used when planting after corn. It also appears to be susceptible to smut, so seed should be treated before planting. Overley has a large seed size. It does not tiller as much as some varieties, so planting rates should be increased as much as 10 to 15%. Overley is noncomplimentary to Jagger, Jagalene, Heyne, and TAM 107.
