Settler CL

Settler CL is a hard red winter wheat cultivar developed cooperatively by the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station and the USDA-ARS and co-released with the Wyoming Agricultural Experiment Station and the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station. Settler CL is a wheat cultivar that may be used as a component of the BASF CLEARFIELD Production System with Beyond® herbicide for the selective control of jointed goatgrass, downy brome, and feral rye. It is a semi-dwarf wheat cultivar with a plant height of about 29 inches, which is similar to Wesley. It has moderate straw strength and good to very good winter hardiness. Settler CL is moderately resistant to stem rust and less susceptible to Fusarium head blight (scab) than many widely grown varieties. It is moderately resistant to moderately susceptible to Hessian fly, and moderately susceptible to leaf and stripe rust. It is susceptible to wheat streak mosaic virus. Settler CL should be well adapted to most rainfed wheat production systems in Nebraska, Wyoming, and South Dakota. It will be marketed by NuPride Genetics Network. Non-complementary varieties include: Infinity CL, Windstar, Above, Agripro 502 CL, TAM 110, Arapahoe, and Millennium.
